Them Flying Monkeys
Xico, Diogo, Luís, Zio and Hugo are Them Flying Monkeys. Hailing from Portugal, Them Flying Monkeys have established their own niche in the underground Portuguese musical circuit with precision melodic rock who's atmospheric undertones are seasoned by a degree of experimentation. The band has gained notoriety for their passionate and visually arresting live shows, cultivating an evolving sound that spans genres while remaining true to their artistic roots.
After touring nationally between 2017 and 2018, following the success of their debut album Golden Cap (2017), the band played some of its top festivals – Nos Alive, Vodafone Mexefest and even BBK Live in Bilbao (Spain) further proof that these guys are born to screw borders.
In 2019 the momentum kept on coming, Them Flying Monkeys embarked on their first European tour reaching iconic stages across multiple countries receiving rave reviews for their infectious high energy live show.
To improve that, the band dropped their second album in 2020, a body of work that showcased the group for their lush and atmospheric sonic worlds. The release showcased their evolution, earning them critical praise and reinforcing their footing in the indie music scene.
2024 marks yet another milestone for the band, as they finish their 27 dates tour around Portugal and prepare to perform their first shows in the United States.
The band had most recently accompanied UK psych-rock acclaimed band Temples on their European run just further enhancing international buzz around Them Flying Monkeys.
Them Flying Monkeys are now preparing to release their long-awaited third LP in January 2025, surely set to break even more rules. In a co-release with gig.ROCKS! and Only Lovers Records (France), the new album is set to be an ambitious merging of what has been their hard-hitting rock sound with a newer electronic direction. This new era has already been hinted at via singles Next Emma Stone, Great Song and Pretty Sticks (the first two of which set a lofty bar for ambition and transformation).
